Registration For Summer Term Classes On May 22...
Registration for summer term classes begins at 8 a.m. on May 22 in the J. Lamar Branch Student Center at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Classes for the summer term begin on May 26 and end on July 21. Coordinator of Student Recruitment Ali Csinos said the summer is a perfect time for a student to get a head start on the fall semester. “Many of our recent high school graduates choose to take a class or two during the summer so they can reduce their fall semester load,” Csinos said. “We offer plenty of core curriculum classes during the summer so it’s not hard to find one that fits just about any major.” Csinos said that applications are also being accepted for the fall semester, which begins on Aug. 18. An easy to follow application guide is available on-line at www.abac.edu/steps. Financial Aid Director Jenelle Handcox said students interested in financial aid for the fall term should apply before the deadline of July 15. All the information about financial aid is available on-line at www.abac.edu/fa. Questions about the summer or fall terms can be directed to the admissions office at abacinfo@abac.edu or at (229) 391-5001. ###

ABAC Tennis Player Wins National Championship...
ABAC freshman Monika Lalewicz won the national championship at #1 singles at the NJCAA national tennis tournament in Tucson, Ariz., on Thursday. Lalewicz, who won every set and lost only eight games in the five rounds of the national tournament, defeated defending national champion Kasia Siwosz from Cowley County (Kans.) Community College 6-3,6-3 in the title match. "She is really on top of her game right now," ABAC Coach Alan Kramer said of Lalewicz, who was the only player at a two-year college to defeat Siwosz in the last two years. Lalewicz also beat Siwosz for the ITA Small College Championship last fall. The ABAC team finished fourth in the national tournament. Hillsborough (Fla.) Community College won the championship.

New Four-Year Degree Coming To ABAC On August 18...
Beginning with the 2008 fall semester, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia Southwestern State University will expand their joint Bachelor of Business Administration degree by adding a major in Resource Management on the ABAC campus. An information session covering all the details of the new program will be held at ABAC on April 28 at 6 p.m. in Room 139 of the Ag Sciences Building. “This program represents one more way that ABAC is expanding its scope as we enter our second century of service,” ABAC President David Bridges said. “We have had an extremely positive relationship with Georgia Southwestern for a number of years, and I believe this partnership will result in a very popular bachelor’s degree program for our students.” After completing their first two years of classes at ABAC, students will be able to stay at the college for junior and senior level classes necessary to earn a bachelor’s degree (BBA). Georgia Southwestern already offers junior and senior level night classes on the ABAC campus for four-year business degrees in management and accounting. The Resource Management degree combines the benefits of a strong business degree with a working knowledge of various agriculture and forestry concentrations. The concentrations include AgriBusiness, Forestry and Wildlife Business, Bioenergy and Renewable Resource Business, and Turfgrass Business. Classes will be offered as a part of the regular daytime schedule. For more information on the program, interested persons can contact Business Administration Chair Jeff Gibbs at jgibbs@abac.edu or (229) 391-4830 or Agriculture and Forest Resources Chair Tim Marshall at tmarshall@abac.edu or (229) 391-4790. Classes for the new degree will begin with the start of the fall semester at ABAC on Aug. 18.
